Ultra Fine Veggiemesh
Veggiemesh 'Ultra Fine' is a very fine mesh netting woven from UV stabilised polyethylene with a mesh size of 0.8 x 0.8mm. It protects crops from flea beetle and whitefly damage and may also provide protection against thrips and leaf miners.
Long-term covering is not recommended if the netting is laid directly over the crop. When used over hoops or cages, this is less of an issue as light and air flow are improved.
Using Veggiemesh 'Ultra Fine'
Cover crops immediately after transplanting or sowing, allowing enough slack for growth. Covering will not prevent damage from flea beetles that emerge beneath the netting. Avoid using on land infected in the past 6–8 months, and remove all plant debris from previous infected crops.
Secure the ultrafine mesh using pegs or by burying the edges to keep it firmly in place.
Insect Screening
Veggiemesh 'Ultra Fine' can also be used to screen glasshouse doors and vents to help exclude insects.
Cleaning and Care
The netting may be washed at low temperatures using a mild detergent.
